Entry 25- Research for inspiration

I thought that it would be useful as the designer of the product to research on other sources for inspiration to develop the product before showing my client the initial prototype.
I have found many secondary source photographs of creatively designed desk tidies, these are some that I found interesting and will later on be able to compare to my own final product.

Copyright of binbin.net- I found this desk tidy extremely creative and innovative but at the same time has a fitness for purpose and successfully hold pens/pencils/rulers. Although this desk tidy does not have as many or a variety of compartments it is still very eye catching.

Entry 24- Ideas for use of a desk tidy

I have created a mind map to brainstorm ideas for the client. Although my client is specifically going to use this product in a work space as she is part of a real estate company I have listed many ways that she is able to use it for variation. I find this form of mind mapping effective as it is not only aesthetically pleasing but clear to read and see differences .
Below have scanned a copy of the original hard copy:

Entry 23- Communication with client

This post exemplifies the creative decisions that I had to make in order to enhance the prototype of the product, however first I was to contact my client to verify if the changes were okay.
Below are screenshots of emails being sent to and from the client for evidence of communication:

Entry 22- Changing the client

During the middle of my research I had to change clients for the reasons said in this video. Although this change was done in May 2010 I have put it in for evidence of project alterations

Entry 21- organisation questionaire

I also created another questionnaire to find out in general what people think of organising desks, and how useful it is according to different age groups. This is so that I could attain a wider audience review, and to improve the design of the product next time around.
Using survey monkey this is my link:

This survey is not client specific but results are from a general public

Entry 20- simple client response

I created a short questionnaire/response to get feedback from my client about what they thought of the product.

1. How satisfied are you with the colour scheme of the product?
I am very satisfied. I like the colours you have chosen as they go together well and the shade and tone is interesting.

2. Do you think there should be added compartments. If so specify which ones.
Yes. I think it would be useful to have a small slit compartment for my ipod, so I could have an easy and organised access.

3. Does the design look proffesional in your opinon?
Yes it looks proffesional and appealing to be made as a well for any ages

Entry 19 - Process

I will show the step by step process of how I created the small shelf using google sketchup. I will just be describing the simple tools and functions I used to show a range of skills.
